Catch Your Breath

Shortly after concluding a tour with Dayseeker, Catch Your Breath announced their first headlining tour with The Funeral Portrait, Archers, and If Not For Me. I was highly disappointed that it wasn’t coming to my city, so I made the trip to Chicago to catch the must-see tour. The trip was beyond worth it.

If Not For Me started performing before I was prepared. The second I heard a song that sounded like theirs, I ran into the venue to make sure I could see one of the bands I was most excited for. Having listened to them for years now, I hadn’t had a chance to see them on tour yet. They didn’t disappoint. They sounded beautiful live and it was fantastic to hear all of my favorite songs performed live for the first time. Once will never be enough with them.

Archers took the stage next, and as always, their performance was incredible. They get better and better each time I see them, which doesn’t seem possible. They performed my personal favorite song, Drag Me Under, and even brought out Patrick, the singer for If Not For Me, during Say This Sober.

The Funeral Portrait was the second to last band to take the stage. After not seeing them live for several years, I was ecstatic to see them after seeing clips online. Their stage performance and setup have changed a lot over the years, and they have become one of the most fun bands to watch live. They’re all known for interacting with each other in a fun manner. Vocalist Lee Jennings doesn’t stray from who he is and makes the performance fun in the way he acts with his bandmates. Bassist Robert Weston gets the crowd going and interacts with them as much as possible. Guitarist Caleb Freihaut can bend in crazy ways that make my eyes widen. Their work on stage is harmonious and insane in the best way. I’d watch them repeatedly and never get tired because they bring an immense amount of entertainment and excitement to the stage.

Catch Your Breath closed out the night with an incredibly memorable performance. They started on a fantastic note with my favorite song, Ghost In The Shell. The room quickly filled to the brink with excited fans as they gave us eleven incredible songs and an encore. The room wasn’t quiet as they sang their popular hit Dial Tone toward the end of their set. Guitarist Teddy Herrera’s ability to put on a performance like nothing’s wrong despite having a broken finger had me stunned. The band proved their headlining tour was long overdue.
