Obsession

Obsession

Obsession is Curry Barker’s first full-length feature film and theatrical release, but you’d never guess it was made with a low budget.

Bear has had feelings for his friend Nikki for a while, but can’t find the courage to ask her out. What does he do instead? Make a wish on a novelty item that promises to make one wish come true, of course.

Obsession uses psychological horror to talk about important topics regarding men and control over women, bringing forth questions about morality through the movie that have extended into real life discussions. This shows how impactful the film has been on viewers, and how it is able to send a message through the characters.

Nikki’s actress Inde Navarrette absolutely crushes her role, perfectly able to play the normal parts as well as the creepy, making you feel every emotion Nikki feels through her dialogue, movements, and emotions. Anyone watching can’t help but feel her pain and her sorrow because of how incredible the actress is.

Bear is every women’s fear personified and it goes to show the actor’s range when you hate him throughout the film.

Obsession is a much watch film that relies on psychological horror and and eerie setting instead of jump scares.
