The Word Alive’s Headliner Ends in Band’s New Hometown
The Word Alive recently embarked after The Eyes Above tour, named after their newest single, which ended in Nashville, TN on August 15th.
Up and coming local band, Hollow Front, opened the show, proving why they were the perfect band for the job. As the openers, it is their job to set the tone for the night and get the crowd excited, and they did an excellent job. They played a few new songs and gained fans in the audience who hadn’t heard of them before, but it was clear they had already existing fans in the crowd as well.
UNWELL took the stage next and put on one hell of a performance that had the room talking. To everyone’s surprise, they brought out Tyler from Of Virtue as a special guest, and he killed it. You could feel the crowd’s excitement at his unexpected appearance. While it was my first time seeing or hearing UNWELL, they brought a unique sound that blurred genre lines, and I think their sound will take them far.
TX2 performed directly before our headlining band, and they had a large crowd who divulged to the front to watch them. Vocalist Evan Thomas made the most of his time on stage, reiterating his belief in trans rights and cursing Governor Bill Lee in his own state, showing he stands for what he says and uses his power in a good way. No matter what anyone says about the band, they put on one hell of a performance, including Evan dangling from the mezzanine. They were a great choice to bring on the tour.
The Word Alive closed out the night and their tour with a fun, energetic set. After seeing them a number of times, I know what to expect when I do, and they don’t disappoint. Seeing them at a headlining tour was incredible since they had a longer than normal setlist that included some of my favorite songs like Eyes Above and Life Cycles. As always, vocalist Telle Smith puts his all into their performance, and so does the rest of the band. Their passion and bond shows when they share the stage.
